Easy Summer Safety Tips for Seniors

CA Medicare.com Announcement, Resources

Summer is a favorite season amongst many. The days are longer and the weather is warmer. It is also the perfect time to take advantage of the outdoors.

However, for many seniors, the heat can cause a rise in blood pressure, leading to heat exhaustion or a heat stroke.

Make the most of your summer and avoid the dangers of heat exhaustion by following some of our tips below. Always check with your doctor if you are experiencing any new symptoms.

  1. Limit strenuous activity and exercise

If you exercise regularly, try it during early morning or late evenings. Try planning around the hottest times of the day to limit your exposure to the heat.

Talk to your doctor about any prescription medication. Some medications can cause side effects and increase sensitivity to Ultraviolet (UV) rays. A
